That's the old rep alright.

I never seem to encounter these people though...then again, I gave up teaching there a few years ago.

Those folks are more or less confined to the beginner area at Hunter One, although I do enjoy the Gorilla stance these people demo when I occasionally see them straightlining advanced runs they shouldn't be on.

This isn't me.

You can see the school in Hunter in this pix. Our house was just to the left of it. They tore it down years ago. It's a vacant lot now.

Who said anything about a crowd? It really isn't the crowd issue that makes Belt dangerous. It's a gaper magnet. The smart beginners and intermediates stay on B or D lift.
But that only goes to mid mountain.

The idiots who have to say they went to the top are the problem. It really wasn't crowded on Belt the day I went down it with my boss...but every gaper straightliner who couldn't avoid the base lodge if they had to was on it at the time.

If it had been crowded that moron would have hit someone else way before he got up to Mach 2.

I don't have any pictures of Belt Parkway...

Oh right... I avoid it... Just like the real Belt Parkway...

I made the mistake of skiing it (belt parkway) on the friday after thanksgiving. probably around 90 or 91. I'll never forget it. it was the most terrifying experience i've ever had on skis.

other than that, i had a blast there last year and would totally go back.

And imagine if you had worn goggles and could actually see what was going on!

Hunter was always my favorite as a kid when we lived on Long Island. Haven't been there since 95 though.

The skiing hasn't changed a whole lot since then...alot of snowmaking upgrades.

The biggest changes are the new learning center, the Kattskill Mountain Club, and the completion of the last phase of the Liftside condos.
