| Columbus Day Weekend Free Camping! - Oct 6-9 - Twin Mtn, NH Friday, October 6-9, 2006: Columbus Day Weekend Free Camping! Twin Mountain, NH. There is no start time. Arrive anytime! A weekend of free car camping. Just park and set-up! Choose between 1, 2, or 3 nights. Old Cherry Mtn Road WMNF Free Camping Area, Site #4. Directions from the South: I-93 to exit 35 on to Rte 3. Take a right on Rte 302, at 3.5 miles, left on Old Cherry Mtn Road (1.3 miles past Zealand Road and Campground). Cross the RR tracks, continue on straight for 1 mile until you arrive at numbered site 4.
If each participant would bring just one bundle of firewood for each night of stay, we can have a very cozy campfire. A WMNF Parking Pass is required and costs a mere $5 for a week or $20 for an entire year. This is primitive camping, water and showers are nearby, as well as motels and many restaurants. Just Added: There will also be a 'bow and drill fire workshop' on Saturday night courtesy of Nikwanderer. This is the technique used by native Americans for lighting a fire before steel was introduced. A method which is used in survival situations today. Do not expect instant results; this technique takes practice. Using a bow and drill will not always result in a fire, but it will create a deep affection for matches and lighters! First come, first served. RSVP soon to avoid disappointment. You must register with me in advance to attend this event. There are just 6 openings left!
