Anyone planning some group trips?

Last year, I set up a trip to Sunday River and 7 folks signed up and showed up. Two never skiied, one skiied one day and was too sore for any more. He did have a good time, though! Pretty much, it was a good time, but a bit of a bust for a Ski trip. There was plenty of Apres ski for them. (Okay, I confess, I did with a group that I hike with on occasion, and they have skiied on occasion, another board).

This year, I'd like to be in on a real ski trip with real skiiers who know how to ski and have fun on the slopes. Apres ski is okay, but I plan to leave most of it out on the trails.

Here is how I set it up:

I announced the trip and required payment in full for each person's portion by sign up. This does involve a significant amount of trust, and you kinda need to know the folks who are organizing the trip. The savings can be significant when a bunch pitch in on a condo, so early prepayment in full often equals 50% down hold a hotel room. The deal was, if you sign up, you are in. Or YOU can find someone else to buy your spot from you. Or if you break your leg and can't ski, you can always come anyways and be the trip cook. But if you sign up, it's up to you to come, or sell your spot to someone else. (I am glad I required full payment, at Skiracer's suggestion. Three folks were going to bag the trip, since they came up short on cash.Which would have meant that I'd be stuck with paying their balance had I required 50%)

After that, we talk about schedule. For practical reasons, we seem to always end up with Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Seems everyone can always get a day off, and no one likes skiing on Monday snow better than Friday snow. Sometimes, we just do Saturday and Sunday. Hey, we all gotta work.

Then we set up communal dinners. Breakfast and lunch, you're pretty much on your own. Dinners, though, almost have to communal. It's like a rule! Chat away the night about the days' skiing or whatever. Lasagna is always a winner. A turkey is a real hit (Put it in the oven at lunch time, and when you return after the lifts stop turning, the aroma is just...so... well, you know.) Or dinner at the local eatery. But, that's part of the group trip thing.

Now, we have not attended any group trips with Alpine zone members, yet. We'd love to get together with other skiiers and ride all day. How do the group trips work here? More importantly, anyone here willing to take a chance and invite us on their ski trip? LOL!

Alot of us go to the River here. Kind of a weekend basis though. I could give a littel bit of a tour, but I'm still learning my way around. Ga2ski would help I'm sure or I could hook you up with some folks. As far as an overnight thing. Can't help there.

A weekend kind of thing. That's just about our habit. We'll have to hook up with some of you. We know our way around the River pretty good. Looking forward to meeting up with some of you.
