Monument Mountain, MA

Date Hiked: 12/25/06

Trails(s) Hiked: Hickey Trail

Total Distance: 2-3 miles total?

Difficulty: Moderate

Conditions: Cloudy

Special Required Equipment: None

I had originally planned to either hike a big mountain or ski up north on Christmas Day, but by the time I was done with the whole Christmas morning thing and then getting drawn into watching All in the Family, motivation and time were both gone. I ended up deciding on hiking Massaemett Mountain nearby, but by the time I hopped into my truck, I decided to tackle Monument Mountain (Squaw Peak) finally (been meaning to hike this since 2003ish).

The trails were fairly crowded compared to what I've seen on other hikes this month (mainly, not a single person). Despite the incoming storm, the views were halfway decent, stretching north to Greylock, west to the Catskills, and south to the Mt. Washington area.
