| Hiker dies on Monadnock 1-3-07 Quote:
http://www.sentinelsource.com/main.a...ticleID=134654 It is now apparent that the man died of a heart attack, and not a slip. However this should be a reminder to stay safe on those trails! RIP

| Marc, I saw a reference to the fact he may have died of a heart attack on VFTT but I did not see anything that ruled out him hitting his head or neck as he fell. Is there another report (a medical opinion by an MD) that has detemined he had a heart attack. A severe stroke would have looked similar too (also not really hiking related) As of last night all I saw was cause unknown but he had no outward signs of blood loss of other trauma. Still good to be extra careful these days as a slip n ice currently will have you falling on hard ice or off trail a little bit onto rocks. In a winter with a lot of snow, usually if you slip you land in unpacked snow, maybe up to your thigh or a face plant in powder but a softer landing.
