| Wachusett 1/19/07 Date(s) Skied: 1/19/07 Resort or Ski Area: Wachusett Mountain, MA Conditions: Windblown Trip Report: Day #10 of my ski season definitely wasn't a memorable one. The place was PACKED tonight, with liftlines exceeding 15 minutes at times. Amazing what 1" of snow can do. Well, here's the trail report: Conifer: Only went down once early on and it was OK. Kinda scraped in spots but not bad. Not much else to say here. 10th: Probably the best conditions on the mountain. Skier's right on the headwall was great. Later on, it got pretty scraped and tons of mounds of granular were forming. I don't understand what happened to afternoon grooming because they haven't done it once this year. Smith: Not bad. Scraped in a few spots but avoidable. Like 10th, skiers right on the headwall was full of fun stuff. Polar Express was in full speed until 8 or so when they slowed it down for unknown reasons. Lines were almost to the bottom of Smith at some points. Minuteman was absolutely terrible again today. Riding the lift up Look Mom, you can clearly see glare ice patches in many spots and Ralph's and Challenger were extremely scraped. They had the guns going in the Vickery Bowl and on Hitchcock most of the night and were starting on Look Ma when I left. Hopefully this entire side of the mountain gets a nice treatment tonight. Minuteman had a 5-10 minute wait at some points (not nearly as bad as Polar) and was also running full speed before being slowed down. I don't understand why they did that. Sundowner: Holy thin cover Batman. Trail was about 15' wide and not much coverage. This also needs some treatment. Monadnock had a 5 minute wait max and was slugging all night like usual. Well, that's day #10. IDK whats up, probably a Wachusett trip around Tuesday. EDIT: Quick look at the webcam shows they're blowing snow right where I siad they needed it. Hopefully things improve tomorrow.
