| Sunday River 1-20 We arrived at Whitecap lodge at about 8:10. The parking lot was almost empty. We headed into the lodge and just as we sat down to start getting ready, in came a steady stream of kids. A bus must have just unloaded outside. Before we were ready Roark called on my cell phone to tell me that he was in the Whitecap lodge. I told him to come upstairs and he would find us. Well we went outside and loaded onto the little whitecap chair and the wind was howling. A guy in the lift line said that Jordon bowl was closed. I looked over and Whitecap chair was not running either. We offloaded and skied down to Barker. From there we skied down Southpaw to Barker again. Everyone is right- that shouldn't be a blue trail, but it was fun. From there we went over to Spruce Peak for a couple of runs. We were getting cold so we decided to go down to North Peak lodge. The wind at the lodge felt like a hurricane. After warming up, we made a couple more runs off Spruce. The snow everywhere was very good. After that we went back to Whitecap for lunch and to warm up again. After lunch we stayed at little white cap and skied the trails there. Wildfire just opened today and had nice big soft whales. Had to hit it a couple of times. At about 2:00 we were on the lift and it stopped a bunch of times and we got very cold. We decided that that would be the last run. Had a great time and enjoyed skiing with Roark. Overall a good day other than the wind. It was day # 26 for me.

| #26... that's awesome. It was #11 for me. Skiied the River Fri with Bob R and Sat w/ Terry. Conditions were surprisingly good both days - as usual the mountain missed most of the snow other places got. Really enjoyed the huge whales on Excalibur on Friday. Had my first good fall of the season: didn't see a bump so I couldn't absorb = double ejection forward somersault. Fortunately only my pride was hurt. They were blowing all day in pretty cold temps Friday on wildfire. It was pretty sweet Saturday. Quite cold and windy on Sat, the winds kept a good portion of the hill closed, but all in still a very good day. It was fun skiing with you Terry, we'll have to do it again! |
