Sno Mountain...Great Day- 1/21/06

Date(s) Skied: 1/21/06

Resort or Ski Area: Sno Mountain (formerly known as Montage Mountain)

Conditions: Great, the steeper trails were coated in at least 2 inches of good gun powder. Beginner and Intermediate trails had been groomed, and were great.

Trip Report:

Got there around 9:30, fairly empty. Bought some tickets and headed up onto the lift. Did a run through the park, it looks pretty decent, not really into that though, so I couldn't tell you how good it is.

Cannonball: Nice Powder and Packed Powder, guns were running on parts of it all day.

White Lightening: Trail of the day....Low visibility, as all the guns were running all day, but...inches of powder, and some very nice moguls. Also, one of the only PA trails I've seen that actually deserves its double diamond designation.

Smoke: Okay, it wasn't officially open, but I believe the rope was dropped as I was leaving. Anyway, it was a beautiful run...

The trails on the upper part of the mountain were great, but I only spent time up there to hang out in the race shack for a while and help out with setting up and taking down the course.

This mountain has come a long from where it was....
It now has very good and agressive snowmaking: All brand new SMI Polecats, and Wizzards, along with York guns.
The lodge is being renovated, and new lifts are being installed next year.

Best part...no liftlines at all, I will probably be back there on weekends again.
