| Nassahegan, CT: 8/14 | Ski Sundown - 2/7/2007 (night) Date(s) Skied: Wednesday, 2/7/2007 - 7:30 pm - 10:05 pm Resort or Ski Area: Ski Sundown, New Hartford, CT Conditions: Manmade packed powder, seeded moguls. Temps in the mid teens, Clear skies. Trip Report: Solo AZ night for me (ya big buncha babies! The Exhibition bumps aren't faring as well. The upper part is still flat and icey. The middle lines are still good, but the surface changes dramatically on the bottom 1/4 from decent manmade powder in edgeable bumps to icey crusty flatter moguls with no real lines and small death cookies. I suspect that area must be softening up in the sun and then refreezing and not seeing the resurfacing. The beginners are wiping out some of the lines down there as well. The decent lines in the middle last maybe a dozen turns. There was a huge whale at the bottom of Upper Nor'easter near the sun deck as Brian alluded to. It's probably 6 feet in height and has a broad steep crest along the top. The backside is soft manmade powder. Perfect for scoring some truly forgiving air. I hit it once at ludicrous speed and got quite possibly the most air I've ever taken. Super forgiving landing though. I threw down several spreads Tons of snowmaking going on. Many towers firing on Gunbarrel, 6 pole cat cannons on Exhibition resulted in a veritable blizzard there. Some resurfacing on Stinger. Those are the only runs I skied or could see from the lift. Great night. Ready for Hunter on Friday! |

To cross post this, you might want to consider a softer ski while weigth may be a non issue. IMO once you start relying on A&E for speed control, faster turns on surface or hop turns where you have to lift the ski may be secondary. Thus ski weight isn't as important, just a thought.

From my own experience, once I have the timing right with A&E, it's a totally different feel with the ski.

lol, thanks for that. I was bumming all night last night. Gonna get out this weekend though. Awesome to hear they coated them. i was wondering how long the ex. bumps would remain somewhat intact. I dont think i've ever seen bumps set up on such a flat pitch before. hope they dont mow them down though, its still fun.
