The sle%t is only a possibility at this point....the cold air is really coming in right now....so the chances of that NCP are getting slimmer...

NECN's forecast is 25 inches for basically all of Vermont, most of NH, and a good chunk of Maine. I really think somewhere is going to end up with 3 ft.

Man, I hope so....but the Boston weather forecasts are terrible when it comes to NNE. Then again, maybe this can be the time to prove me wrong.

The latest from NWS for Central VT:

Quote:
Winter Storm Watch

/O.CON.KBTV.WS.A.0002.070214T0600Z- 070215T1200Z/ ORANGE-WESTERN RUTLAND- WINDSOR-EASTERN RUTLAND- INCLUDING THE CITIES OF...BRADFORD...RANDOLPH... RUTLAND... SPRINGFIELD...WHITE RIVER JUNCTION...EAST WALLINGFORD... KILLINGTON 827 PM EST MON FEB 12 2007

...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING...

A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING FOR ORANGE...RUTLAND AND WINDSOR COUNTIES IN SOUTH CENTRAL VERMONT.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BURLINGTON VERMONT CONTINUES THE WINTER STORM WATCH FOR THE POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY SNOW WHICH WILL OVERSPREAD THE AREA LATE TUESDAY NIGHT...AND CONTINUE INTO EARLY THURSDAY MORNING. A DEVELOPING AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER THE SOUTHERN PLAINS WILL MOVE EAST INTO THE TENNESSEE VALLEY TUESDAY AFTERNOON...AND THEN A SECONDARY LOW PRESSURE AREA WILL DEVELOP ALONG THE CAROLINA COAST TUESDAY NIGHT. THIS SECONDARY LOW PRESSURE AREA WILL THEN MOVE NORTHEAST AND INTENSIFY RAPIDLY DURING THE DAY ON WEDNESDAY...AND BE NEAR CAPE COD EARLY WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

AS IS USUALLY THE CASE...EXACT SNOWFALL AMOUNTS WILL DEPEND ON THE OVERALL TRACK AND EVOLUTION OF THIS STORM SYSTEM. THE SNOW MAY MIX WITH OR CHANGE TO SLEET AT TIMES DURING THE DAY ON WEDNESDAY. HOWEVER...THIS STORM SYSTEM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BRING THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL THIS WINTER TO VERMONT AND NORTHERN NEW YORK...WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF MORE THAN 1 FOOT OF SNOWFALL BY EARLY THURSDAY MORNING.

THE POTENTIAL ALSO EXISTS FOR BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW...AS WELL AS PERIODS OF SLEET DURING WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. TRAVEL WILL LIKELY BE VERY DIFFICULT DURING WEDNESDAY AND CONTINUING INTO THURSDAY MORNING.

NECN is usually really good. It is more of a New England forecast then a Boston one.
