Wildcat March 17th, 2007 Saint Patrick's Day (MANY PICTURES!(so reply to my topic!!))

Resort or Ski Area: Wildcat Mountain Ski Area

Conditions: Powder, Breakable Crust with powder underneath, loose powder on ski trails

Liftlines: No Liftines

Trip Report: Where to begin? It was around 20 degrees (Breeze correct me if I am wrong). Wildcat got around 10" of new snow. Then it started with the sleet and freezing rain. Took one run off of the Summit, Polecat, was nice, powdery, not a spot of ice on the trail. Later we went into the woods around LTB, make some fresh tracks, while testing out snow conditions. I figured there would not be enough snow for TB or S top-bottom (well near bottom). They closed the HSQ due to freezing rain; conditions wqere actually better at the lower elevations I am assuming due to the temperature inversion.

Next run we went to CC where we found some nice untracked. I had forgot where the cliff was, I took a fall and ended up upside down looking at the cliff above me; so it was time to hit the cliff. There were a few really nice lines in CC with a few small drop to drops; before we got to the bottom I found anohter little gully to ski throuhg the woods that was about 75 feet in length and fairly tight towards the bottom; snow was good though.

Next up was ES at this point the freezing rain had started to make things hard to turn on the higher elevations; tracks turned off of the trail and out of the woods but we kept going and got some nice fresh tracks in some fairly deep powder! Once we got to the lower part of it, there were some really nice turns to be found with some "pillows" of powder. Once we got to where I took this picture two years ago, there was water flowing and we decided it was time to hike out of the woods. You should ahve seen the looks ont he peoples faces as we came out of the woods through some thick pine trees... priceless

After lunch it was time to hit up TLit was pretty good despite the fact it was so hard to turn because of the crust over the powder... it is pretty tight in places and fairly steep in spots; overall I know it will be a good one on a "true" powder day.

Later we headed back to CC where the snow was still decent.

We took Tomcat Schuss which was great soft bumps as wasLynx. Midway toMountain Jag Glade where we found a few good lines and we got a few cheers from people on the Tomcat Triple (I love how the triples runs through the middle of the glade). Lower Caternary was a bit bare by the end of the day but the snow was nice and soft.

We spent most of the day in the woods. I think there was only one run where we didn't go to a "stash" of some sort. Great day of skiing; one of the best this season.

PLEASE COMMENT if you want me to post a trip report with so much detail and pictures again...

Please note: if you know where these "stashes" are... dont say!!! I did not make any refrence as to where any of these are.

This photo of me describes how the rain froze to everything... my google strap frooze within seconds of pulling the goggles from my face; so I had to tighten the strap to keep the goggles on:

nice report, and awesome pics. sucks about the freezing rain, same deal at sugarloaf nothing ungroomed is skiable... trust me i tried!

so........ where are those stashes??
