Mt Snow 3-24-07

Date(s) Skied: Saturday March 24th 8:30-1:00

Resort or Ski Area: Mt Snow

Conditions: Hard pack in the am soft and sweet by 10:00 another bluebird day

Trip Report: Was on the lift by 8:30 and headed right over to the north face to see what the snow was like. As we thought, it was very hard and needed some time for the sun to work on it. We took only one run down free fall and then headed over to the main face where the sun was blasting. Took a run down Exibition and it was really a different Mt then the north face...Soft corn and about 10 degress warmer. We went up the grand summit express and decided to see how the bumps were on Beartrap over at Sunbrook. As I hoped it was nice and soft a bit of ice at 9:00 but very skiable. We skied that untill10:00 and then decided to see if the NF has soften up enough. We hit Fallen timbers and the snow was packed powder and this point and really nice.

Next run was down Plummet which was a bit firm but I loved the character of the trail. PDF also was fun with some bare spots poking through. Rip cord never softened up enough for us to hit as we had to leave by 1pm to get home by 6:30.

My last run of the day was down PDF on the NF and then up the challenger lift and over to the main face. On the main face I decided to see if my favorite trail on the MF was open..Upper Ledge. As I was coming up on the trail I saw that dreaded rope across the trail. It is a natural trail and was a bit thin but I saw no reason for it to be closed. Being my last run of the weekend I decided to duck the rope and as I started to ski down I was real happy I did. LOVE those thin natural trails with small cliffs and rocks!! Fun Fun trail the run of the day.

Great two days of cold spring skiing with not a cloud in the sky, wish I could bottle these days.

Nah. I don't make rope ducking a habit. I poached a whopping two runs this season. One (Redline) was worth it. The other (Beast), not so much...

Ledge is worth it.... truly a gem of a run top to bottom. It's almost Castlerock-esque (you like that one?) in a land of groomers..
