Conditions: Winter, soft snow on top of firm groomed trails. Snowing all day.

Trip Report: Previous two days did both me and V in. Started Friday at SundayRiver and then Saturday at MRG. The powder and bumps at MRG had both me and V crying, quads were burning as we woke up Sunday morning, V more so than myself. I was scared that she wouldn’t be able to ski too much, she pretty much agreed with me. We get up to the mountain and were pleasantly surprised to see snow falling.

We started out easy, took the Snowdon Quad up, trip up was cold and windy, felt like mid January! We skied down Bunny Buster, nice soft powder coming down. I wanted to take the Poma up and do this trail again, V wasn’t agreeable to this because it was cold and windy going up. As a result we skied down and took the K1 gondola to K1 peak. From there I thought it might be a good idea to work our way over to Bear Mountain where it might be a bit warmer. We got Bear took the Bear Quad up and skied Wildfire, bumps on top of ice, not too bad though, was a lot of fun and V didn’t complain too much. As we got down to the Bear Quad again, we ran into Tyrolean Skier and a bunch of other Zoners and decided to ski with them a bit. Did a few laps in Bear mountain and then worked our way down Cruise Control to the Needles area. Cruise Control was in real nice shape, great cruising all the way down. Next we took the quad up and worked our way over to Superstar which was more soft snow on top of boilerplate, not bad though, it was a lot of fun zipping down. I guess with the Easter holiday and end of season nearing, there weren’t many people on the mountain. As a result conditions remained great throughout. We skied to the K1 lodge for the 10am get together, hung out for a bit and then continued on. Ty and some of the Zoners decided on tree run, V wasn’t up for it, so we decided to hit the North Ridge area with others that weren’t in a tree mood.

Well, North Ridge was sweet. Trails were empty, snow was falling, and suddenly V’s legs were feeling better. First it was a run down Powder Line, a lot of scraped off bumps. She wasn’t in the mood, so I told V that if she gets a chance ski through the trees and onto Reason. She took my advice, hit some powder in the trees, and my Powder Princess came to life. We got past this, skied down Upper East Fall, then Lower East Fall, a bit of ice coming through, but overall great conditions and no people. Then it was a ride up the Canyon Quad and a trip down Rime, same thing, nice snow, and no people. By now, V’s pain was totally gone and she was smiling, I was in trouble. Next it was a trip over to South Ridge and Pipeline, lift wasn’t running so people weren’t skiing here, snow was a bit crusty, but not at all bad. By now V didn’t want to go home, I was thinking about work the next day. Finally we agreed on a couple more runs on Bear, forget the trails, then worked our way back up to Skye, took Bitter, Skylark and that was our day.

Overall K was great, no people, no lift lines, and snow all day long. Here it is April and conditions are just getting better and better. A couple of weeks ago I was saying that if my season were to end, I’d be a happy camper since it’s been so good, now I can’t wait until next week, it’s been great!
