They do groom too much - no doubt. I've said that in my reports. Not quite as bad as Okemo however. And for some unknown reason - people love it. Stratton and Okemo are booming ski areas. At least it was free..................it was the place to be on Sunday 3/4, powder everywhere! Snowed all afternoon.
Also - try the woods. They aren't that bad with the right conditions. No tougher than what you ski. Take your time. If it's not good then don't do them any more that day. |
You’re right reefer I probably didn’t give it a fair chance. I was so cold it was hard to get comfortable so I didn’t spend much time looking at trail maps and trying to figure out where the best trails were. Also with many lifts closed that was a problem. At one point I was at the top and I stopped to read the large trail map sign, my wife said “let’s get going it’s so cold up here” We did go over to Kinderbrook area once but when heading back towards the main area we had to traverse more than usual due to lift closures so we didn’t go back to that side again. It was free and I’ll definitely go back again on a better day, especially if I can get another free day! But I do wish they wouldn’t groom to hell all of those single black trails down the front side.
