Dogs don't die. They just walk away.

Sorry to hear that, Jerry. We lost our almost 9-year old lab the day after Turkey day.

We picked-up our new pup, a Brittany, about 5 weeks ago, because the girls couldn't stand the "empty" feeling in the house. The new pup is fun, but I still miss my ol' dawg....

The hardest thing I have ever done was to take my old shepard- husky mix to the vets to be put down. She was suffering, but it was a hard decision. We got her when my son was a year old and the kids grew up with her. It was like losing a best friend. I know what you are going through.

so sorry to hear about your loss. i know exactly how you feel, i had to put down my 13+ year old lab this week due to cancer. this was so tough to progressively watch him get worse as time went on. this week we finally made the call as it was beginning to effect his quality of life.

i'm getting him cremated and spreading his ashes in various summits and lakes in new england that he and i enjoyed.

I am sorry to hear about your loss too. I know how difficult that decision is. It always affects me when I happen to be present during their death. I never get over seeing the life's light go out in their eyes.
My x had gotten my little Norfolk terrier "Krissi" after the divorce. Krissi passed this January, just before it turned cold, at 15 1/2 years of age.
This now makes 6 dogs I have lossed in the my life time. I refer to them as the heaven's pack. I have decided not to get anymore animals. When my cat and the other two dogs pass on that will be it for this phase of my life.
