Dakota's Passing

I was there when he took his first breath of life 8 1/2 years ago and was there when he drew his last this afternoon. He was my Aussie/ husky mix buddy. He was very much an Aussie but he loved the snow. His last winter was a good one. I will miss him. He died at home with his "Pack". He was looking in my eyes one minute and was gone the next. Bye Dakota.

Rest in Peace Dakota.. I'm sorry for you loss Jerry, but happy that you had the opportunity to experience the unconditional love our pets give us. There's nothing on earth more rewarding than that look in their eyes when you come home, pet them, feed them their favorite treats... they do not see the ugly in us..rather they see only the beautiful..

Pets are proof there is a higher power...one we should learn from ..

My condolences and reflections..

Thank you for the kind words .. He was my oldest grandson favorite. My grandson is 7 and this will be his first experience with death on a personal level. I hope I will be able to explain this to him .. Cody is smart and I know he is gong to ask me if I am going to die some day. I will tell him yes and that is why we should make the most and enjoy the time we have together now.

I still have two remaining in my pack .. Kaysee and Cricket. Thankfully, they are doing great and I have a few more good years to look forward to with them.

I think I was 7 when I lost my first dog..it was hard..but I learned a lot...it was a time to be grateful for every day...and I've never forgotten her... Buffy. As humans we outlive a lot of pets...and it's never easy... but they are the glue that holds us together as families..it's for families w/o kids...gives them kids..for families w/kids..for the kids to experience a type of "parenting'... and birth and death..

I've been hearing a lot lately.."live every day".."don't wait for tomorrow", "do it today"..and I believe that..this is a good life's lesson...

Best Wishes to you and your family for healing and acceptance..

Condolences on the loss of a dog that I sense was a great friend to you. That special bond that we're able to form with our pets makes such a loss hard, but the unquestioning devotion we get from them is a special gift.

Be well.
