I'm sure I celebrated it although I didn't know it was the DAY to do so. Is there any significance to the date 420 or is it just a random day in the Spring to get out & let loose which has now taken on significance over the years?

420 refers to the police code for a pot bust. Not sure if that's still the case, but that's the origin.

The police code myth is believed to be untrue, although seeing as there are numerous police districts across the country, it may be the code for pot in one of them. From everything I've heard about 420, 4:20 referes to the time that a group of teenagers in California would meet to smoke after school.
