Monroe Brook 4-29-07

Met up with Skilasnow from T4T for a fun day of skiing in the fog and rain. Only did one top to bottom run since the rain started to move in as the day went on. Coverage is great. It will defiantly be good for another couple of weeks if you don't mind bush-whacking a little at the bottom.

Lots of snow even at the trail head:

The bottom of Monroe brook:

Skilas entering the brook:

Skinning into the fog:

Skilas having skinning difficulties:

Sadly this is the brightest it got all day:

Bootpacking:

Skilas skiing through the pea soup:

It was very soft. Yeah, the Ammo trail would have some nice spots to ski in a very good season. Monroe Brook holds snow way better though.

Doesn't Monroe Brook cross the Ammo Trail? Or am I in the wrong place?

Yeah, you take the Ammo trail for the first mile or so then turn south. I thought you were talking about skiing the upper part of the Ammo, as in the gullies and snowfields. The bottom part of the ammo was pretty flat and not too good but a whole lot better than hiking down.

Here's a map:

(We probably got close to the "1500" on the map, at the tip-top of the river line for Monroe brook)
