Killington 4/29-THE END

After careful consideration of the weather, we wound up at Killington yesterday. After reading riverc0il's Jay report from 4/28, we made the right move. The weather turned on us for the weekend, but no biggie. At least we were closer to home at the end of the day.

Killington featured steady drizzle, fog, zero visibility, and boot top slush. Snow was heavy and wet everywhere. You could still see alot of snow in the woods, but it was patchy and didn't look like much fun. So I stuck to slush bumps and had a decent enough day skiing Cascade, Double Dipper, East Fall, Escapade (very thin), etc. over on the K1 gondola. At least the lift rides were dry. Superstar quad was closed and the area from the base of the quad to the lodge was melted out, so I didn't even bother skiing Superstar. I like the K1 runs better anyway. Skied from 9:00-2:30 and called it a day after realizing the fog was getting thicker and the drizzle heavier.

Kind of a dreary last lift served day, but hey, it's the end of April.

Pretty much done for the season at 54 days.

Superstar and Skylark were actually pretty good yesterday, too bad you didn't make it over there.

Yeah, I thought about it, but the hike back to the K1 just didn't interest me. Plus I was with my 13 year old David and a buddy of his who skis at Killington frequently. They had no interest in walking either. So it was pretty much unanimous.

I really enjoy the canyon side of the mountain anyway but I usually find myself looking somewhere else to ski since the place is so spread out. It was nice to dedicate time to that area.

Upper Cascade was the pitch of the day by far.

I really enjoy the canyon area as well Jim. Great area after a big dump!
