Curiously, the Lake Placid station is located near John Brown's farm (near the ski jumps) some 13 MILES FROM WHITEFACE. How is a station that doesn't get significant upslope snowfall because its in the middle of a freakin' valley going to represent what is occuring 13 miles away on one the high peaks? Your "stats" don't prove a thing.

I've pointed out the flaws of bestsnow.net before. This is a site that lists Whiteface's primary exposure as south. Anyone with a topomap could see otherwise.

Great post. Thanks for taking the time.

I'd add, though, that the WF base lodge is at least 600 feet lower than that station. Anyway, Whiteface has tremendous vertical, so, what you see in the parking lot or on the web cam isn't representative of what's going on up the mountain where the real skiing is.

Yes it clearly states where it is located. Just using it as reference point in elevation. I don't believe there would be a significant difference in totals at that elevation at Whiteface.

Still, where are all the glowing reports from Whiteface about how great the conditions are?

Well, I don't believe you know much about meteorology or geography.

One reason might be that most of us who post here about WF are regulars and it really isn't a trip to us, we're there every weekend.

Throughout the season I post pics I take on SKIADK and sometimes here. To write up the time I get there, the temp, the trails I ski, the conditions, break for lunch, when I quit and what I did after every weekend over and over would be boring for me and AZ readers

I'd just like to say that I hope TakeaHike never takes a hike away from AZ. He always has great stats that he can back up.

It's always fun to read trip reports though. If I skied as much as you I doubt I'd do a report every time, but maybe every couple weeks? You can omit the lunch details if that makes it any better

Exactly....others who are looking for the best conditions/snow don't commit themselves to the same hill every weekend

There are just usually better options elsewhere
