Seems like they've been putting alot of money into snow making euipment in the last few year. They're currentlly working on an expansion that'll put them to there limit space wise also.

It sucks that they're limited to 25 miles of total terrain..but it's cool that they're adding a new lift pod with 1600 vert..Holla

It would be pretty cool if they could raise that limit. There are lots of space for trails on that mountain (not to mention the enitre back side of it!)

Oh BTW we dont have crowded trail over here. Thats not entirely true there a few blue squares that get congested. Never a black diamond. The only time you will ever see a line is between 9:30 and 11:30 on the ghondola. No other lifts. Well thats not true either but I dont use the blue square trail lift.

Anyone who skiis over here chime in if I am wrong
I know Whiteface isn't crowded overall (aside from the few intermediate trails you alluded to), but MRG trails are less crowded from my experience. It is true that I have never waited on a line at Whiteface, but that is not the same as empty trails.

Divide lift capacity by acres for a good measure of how crowded trails are on a weekend..

Assuming lifts are fully occupied, yes.. But to the extent I caused this discussion about how crowded trails are, while the difference between MRG and, say, Killington in that respect is huge, MRG's terrain is definitely more important to me than the uncrowded trails. I am not by any means saying that crowded trails is a negative at Whiteface, as I do not believe that to be true. I think MRG is better overall for other reasons (terrain, natural snow, lack of grooming on expert trails).

And I just want to add that I *like* Whiteface. I think the fact that I'm considering at as a potential top-5 in the east should prove that. I hope it doesn't seem to those who rank it higher that I'm trying to bash it, or that I'm just another Sugarbush lover as some seem to label half the people who post here.
