If it opens this year, I think I'd have to put Powder Bump ahead of Southington Bump, just simply for the fact that about 3 minutes from powder Bump is the farm market at Lyman Orchards and they have some unbelievably good baked goods there!

Or you just stop at Rogers Orchards, about 3 minutes from Mount Nothington for some fresh apple/cinnamon donuts and a hot cider......

I'll have to disagree about Sundown being a mile better than Mohawk. I figure there on par with one another just different in their own unique ways. (I can elaborate if necessary) Regardless the only other change I would make in your rankings is to bump Woodbury Ski & "Racket" ahead of Powder "Flats", seeing as PR is likely not to operate this season.

Mohawk seems really, really flat to me compared to Sundown which at least has a bit of pitch on Gunny, Stinger and Temptor. Mohawk also doesn't seed bumps. The bumps at Sundown make it ski bigger than it is. I can (and do) ski just the Nor'easter bumps over and over all night and not be bored. Skiing every trail at Mohawk (which all ski similarly) would be no where near as enjoyable. That's just me.

I've been to every operating CT ski area and "Powdr" Ridge. Here's the list:

1. Sundown
2. Mohawk - hey, it’s only 20 minutes only
3. Southington - the trails are more interesting than that of Powder Ridge at least
4. Powder Ridge - nothing there even has the pitch of Arrowhead at Mohawk
5. Woodbury - what a joke

Yeah, me.

What I mainly don't like about Sundown is how most of the trails empty in the same place. It gets a little harried for beginners. Mohawk spreads it out more.

That said, I consider myself lucky to be in between 2 nice little areas that are just so darn convenient. It could always be worse.

I agree with ya but the upper mountain at Sundown is just so much more interesting than the upper mountain at Mohawk so that's what really matters to me. I think Mohawk is better for high end novices and intermediates while Sundown is better for experts. And you are lucky to be sandwhiched in between Mohawk and Sundown. I'm close to Mohawk, but far to Sundown, and if I were close to Sundown, I'd be season passing there.
