Do you see throngs of people swarming to ANY other ski area to do this? Newp. Killington was built around the concept of being part of peoples life. Part of Vermont skiing. I know, others will disagree and say other mountains are part of it, but Killington was BUILT UP around this concept and this feeling.

People are swaming to Killington because theyre laying down the product in terms of snow. Everyone knows they have the most powerful system in the East, so theyre going there to try and take advantage of it, not because its on public land. Theyre using the public land argument as a crutch to legitimize their activity.

Then I suppose we agree to disagree. People have done this sort of thing at Killington for years. As a matter of fact, they also tend to do it *AFTER* killington has closed for the season, and aren't making snow. As an example, here is a link where people where earning their turns 2 years ago, before Killington had made ANY snow

It happens. Yes, there are some of the people who just want to get free ski on. But don't lump everyone together. Even so, it's not like they're not paying for something they COULD pay for.

Huh? Stowe has had way more early and late season hikers for years. I bet Jay has them beat too.

Jay had so many hikers on Vermonter that all the natural snow was completely packed down. I would estimate at least a hundred people have skied/rode Jay this past long weekend.

I meant earn your turn skiers, not people hiking without skis.

Ok, either way, it undermines the argument that people head to Killington to free ski on such awesome snowmaking. People do so because they WANT experience the 'earn your turns'.

No it doesnt considering Jay and Stowe are the next best bets considering the location and the amount of natural snowfall. People earn their turns at these places cause the snow is there. Stowe and Jay have the natural and Killington is manmade.

Ok, so basically, your of the belief that you don't ski it unless you pay for it I guess.
