Tug hill, in the primary drop zone for Ontario Lake Effect......they get significantly more icing on the cake. Always have, always will. Now if we could just get that earthquake that lifts the Tug Plateau about 4000'.

Just my .02 from 40 years skiing in this area. I'm not a weatherman, nor do I play one on TV.

I agree with all you said except for the word "rarely". It's obviously true Tug Hill gets the majority and more often than we due here in Virgil due to the west to east winds. But, living, working and skiing here for 42 years I would say we get our fair share. When that wind shifts more southernly it creates multiple bands and theat's when we get it. It is amazing how concentrated it is. I can get 6-8 inches at my house get to work to find only 2-3, and I only live 4 miles away.

lol...I guess you've never been to the poconos! A bunch of friends and us from the Lehigh Valley have pre-bought units, I figure it will be a good place for skiing, mtb'ing(thinking shindagin), drinking, golfing, wine trailing, etc. when she's all done....

you bring up good points. I guess growing up and living in Virgil I take alot of things for granted. Guess my main question would be about the Hotel and Conference Center. With all that's available I truly question if that will go over good. The condo units I can understand , but imo they're getting some serious cash for them. I will say this that the town meetings have been very interesting lately. Will be fun to watch develope and see it open.
Did they give you a time frame as to when yours will be done???

At one point they were supposed to be ready for this season, but the date keeps slipping..at this point i'm otimistic for next fall/winter...it better happen as we're booked for new years there! As far as the price, it does seem like alot but you can't touch anything in NE for 3x that amount?!!?!? so it's a relative bargain....and as an added bonus you get time share privelages as well so I'm thinking maybe I can parlay it into a few trips out west!

....my local ski area pet peeve of all time is.....

On powder days Lab, Song, Tog, GP, even Snow Ridge.....seem to get the groomers out ASAP to steam roll the powder down as quickly as possible. "Quick, Hoss, groom it down before the powder hounds get here !!!"

Kripes ! How about letting the skiers do the grooming ? Groom the 2 or 3 artery/boulevard trails, then groom the rest in the PM or next morning. AAAAARRRRGGGGG !

I've strenuously suggested this to the management of all of these areas over the years, and they look at me like I'm Jack Nicholson in The Shining. "Heeeeeerrrrreeee's Johnny !!!!!!!!"

Yes, compared to other places it truly is a bargin and if the evtire expansion takes off you'll be in a good postion. The town is behind them, well, because really what would you have in Virgil if it wasn't for that place. At the end of the day I'm sure it will be a good investment for you. I'm sure they'll have them ready by next year---fifn they don't they'll have alot of explaining to do to alot of unhappy people.

Oh how true---I only ski GP so I can only speak for that place, but after a big snow your right, they flatten all but about 4-5 trails. But actually for me that's okay because those 4-5 trails are really the only thing worth skiing so it works out pretty darn good.

I haven't skii'd there enough to tell but when I was there last year for the St Pats storm I was impressed with the amount of ungroomed terrain - ALOT more than anywhere down here...
