Go with the synthetic. Down doesn't breathe moisture as well, will clump up and produce cold spots. For pure winter camping get a bag rated well below what you envision the temp. will be. Cars are cold, all metal and glass, and you should leave the windows cracked to avoid moisture build up. In any event buy a quality product - it's your comfort and well being.
