Ski Sundown - 1/8/2008

Date(s) Skied: Tuesday, 1/8/2008, 1:15 - 5 pm

Resort or Ski Area: Ski Sundown, Connecticut

Conditions: Soft bumps, slush. Very warm with temps in the high 50's cooling to the lower 50's. Calm. Mostly sunny/hazy skies.

Trip Report: Goal today was to get in some quality daylight hours on the bumps in the warm weather before the rains come. Glad I did. Overall, the mountain has plenty of snow, but the bumps are starting to show some signs of deterioration.

Boarded lift 2 at 1:15 and took a few runs. Nor'Easter was firmer than expected. Certainly not icy, but not mush either. The Ex bumps were dirty mush with only a few short quality lines in there. Still fun though.

Eventually saw Grassi + wife and took a few runs with them. Saw Chris again later in the afternoon. The school groups showed up between 3 and 4 and I suffered through dealing with bratty adolescents until 5 pm. Lift 1 opened around 4 pm so the singles line there made things move along.

There are several burned out troughs in NE now. Most are just dirt and grass, but one is legit rock ledge. After tomorrow's rain and warmth, we are going to completely lose a few troughs. Luckily this warm spell is temporary.

All in all, a quality semi-solo afternoon. Probably banged out 25 bump runs.
