| In prior times | Other tips: Definitely large-mouthed bottles as the necks won't freeze up. Carry them upside-down, so the necks won't freeze up. Carry extra hand warmers, you can put them into your bottle cozies if your water starts to freeze up, as long as you use a heat-resistant bottle like a Nalgene. --> Try your crampons on your boots at home before you go on the hike. Make sure they are adjusted correctly, fit, and that you know how to strap them on. There's nothing worse than getting to where you need them and having "issues" gettin g them on.

| | Yes, that is a tip I am glad you brought up. Wouldn't be an issue for me, but whoever my hiking partner might be, might not be a regular to the snow and ice. And it does suck if you never figured out that the strap is broken or something.
