Sugarloaf - Jan 27, 2008

Resort or Ski Area: Sugarloaf

Conditions: PP - Light Powder

Trip Report: Primo day at Sugarloaf and took advantage of Maine Family Day ($25 bucks a head

). A light and very fluffy snow fell all day and kept everything nice and fresh. You could tell it was pretty hard under the fluff, but the fluff kept it very nice.

Our favorite runs of the Day were Tote Road to Candyside... and Timberline from the Top. Lots of little tree runs among the "little trees" on the side of Timberline. We also hit Scoot, Binder, and Gauge on the West side, and Ramdown from Kingpine and a bunch of stuff of the Whiffletree chair on the east side. We stuck mostly to groomers, and everything had very good cover. Binder was a bit thin in spots... along with Buckboard... but nothing to complain about. It's all good.

Maybe someone who hit the stuff middle-mountain could chime in with conditions there.

I skied the Loaf on Fri and Sat. We were mostly too hung over from the G Love show to ski Sun (I am ashamed).

Sat was freakin beautiful. NO WIND at the summit!! Sun and some beautiful runs down Tote Road and Timberline, and a narrow trail (Buckskin?) Quite a bit of snow up there.

I enjoy the Loaf, man. Wish it was closer.

Ditto Salsgang,
Nice but rather hard underneath....groomed trails' sides were nice. Few trails over towards West Mtn(but not exactly on...) were ideal....hardly touched till later on in day(I thought).
*The limited fluff possessed just the right stuff of water content...get in any ~3-6" leftover stuff &.... Wow = effortless.

Yeah. Even though today wasn't a 6"+ powder day, you could get that floaty feeling in lots of places. It was a nice surprise. Glad the rest of you had as good a time as we did.
