Killington Trip

Tue 12/21 - Wed 12/22
[/b]Killington, VT
Conditions Tuesday was cold and windy (-9 when we woke up). As the day progressed the temps reached the high teens. Snow was really very reasonable on those trails that were open.

Report We made sure we had the right clothing (Proper layers and face protection) and hit the mountain with vigor. Started out at Snowshed then skied off the Sky Peak Gondola that was loading off the midstation. Looked like they were working hard to get Bear areas in shape, but they were not open. Crossed over to Superstar and found excellent conditions there. Very minimal bare or icey spots. Shot the base over to the K1 gondola and did a run on Rime and East Fall down to the Canyon lift (Boo...not running on Tues) so had to shoot to K1 to use this side of the mountain. Cascade and Downdraft were nicely covered, and we definitely generated some muscle burn hammering those. Wed started much warmer, and warmed up further all day. same terrain as Tuesday, but warmer temps softened up some of the harder spots. Did a full sweep of all the open areas. Got a bit skunked on Ovation since it was only open in the upper and middle sections making us have to skate across the K1 lodge area to get back to the Gondola. Hooray!, they had opened the Canyon Quad, so we spent the last two hours on the terrain leading to it. By about 2:45 we were getting a rain/snow mix at the lower levels, so we called it about 3:45. All in all, a good Pre-Christmas experience. PS: I guess I forgot to turn off the Bold Face...sorry!
