Sugarloaf, 2/9-10/08

Date(s) Skied: 2/9/08, 2/10/08

Resort or Ski Area: Sugarloaf

Conditions: PP, P, approximately 4" new overnight Saturday, temps in 20s, alternating sun and clouds.

Trip Report: Another fun weekend at the Loaf, this time with warmer temps than we've seen so far.

Yesterday we did mainly King Pine and Timberline runs. Cant Dog still needed a good dump to cover various obstacles.

We kept expecting snow to start yesterday afternoon, but it never really materialized. The mountain finally got around 4" overnight, and the surrounding area got more like 1-2".

We had dinner at the Porter House in Eustis last night. It was nice, traditional food in a cozy setting. Ms. Shwilly's grilled duck breast was particularly memorable.

The trees are great right now. Today we did several runs from the top down the front face, passing through Blade Glade, Cant Hook, Stump Shot, and Rookie River. Gondi Extension finally opened, though it still has several rock gardens.

Of course, it started snowing hard as we left the mountain today. We encountered thundersnow and brief whiteout conditions on I-95 south of Augusta, but they didn't last long.
