Rumor... Jay Peak Resort Sold

Riding the lift this morning with a local, he made a comment then Jay is no longer owned by the Canadians but was just sold to a Florida firm. I asked him if he was mistaken and was talking about Burke instead. He said no. His girl friend works in the hotel and has seen all the buyers come through and also gets her info from Bill Stenger. He did not what the name of the Florida firm was.

If your company HQ is located in state where it doesn't snow and there are no mountains, you should be banned from owning a ski area.

That's a little harsh..anybody or company with the means is entitled to own a ski area..

I'm being a little tongue in cheek, sorry I didn't include any smilies. I actually think the arrangement that they have with Sugarloaf and Sunday River is working pretty good, but ski industry pros are running the show. The money just comes from FL. I have no idea what the deal with Jay is.

I realize this is still rumor at this point but why would MSSI sell their crown jewel when the Canadian dollar is so strong? Or maybe that is why they did sell it?

I wonder what kind of affect this will have on the West Bowl expansion; if it will kick start it or move it to the back burner.
