| Sugarloaf - Feburary 21, 2008 Date(s) Skied: February 21, 2008 Resort or Ski Area: Sugarloaf Conditions: PP / Hard Pack Trip Report: Tardy report on a Loaf trip but just got back after a couple of R&R days. The loaf has recovered from the nair very nicely. No natural trails open when I was there, but the groomers were very skiable and fast. And there was NO ONE there. For a school vacation week - where was everybody!?! Not that I am complaining but there was NO lift lines all day! Conditions are not that bad! They are quite good actually. The nair must have scared them away or something. We skied with some friends of ours and they nudged us east mountain. So we scored a whole bunch of first time trials for us. Upper Gondi. Boomauger, Wedge, Widowmaker, Flume, a groomed Double Bitter. I took a look at White Nitro and said no thanks. To steep and icy for me. For some reason I had not done Comp Hill from the top or Hayburner, so I did those too. So overall a great day, very cold, but not a whole lot of wind. Too cold to fumble with the camera so no pics. Hope everyone is getting out there! The conditions in Maine are good on the groomers! |

| Must be - I got some mid-week emails about 'last minute' lodging deals from Sugarloaf. Must of had a bunch of cancels as I imagine lodging is usually pretty full during maine school vacation week. I like no-lift lines, but I do want to see the new owners have a successful year financially too. We shall see what happens. |
