I would consider skiing around a bit (especially on a weekend). passholders at copper/wp can get up to four very steeply discounted tix per day. Loveland passholders can buy one per day at 41. Ask a physician about taking diamox for altitude, people say it really helps.

haven't skied breck yet, but have been out there a few times in the summer...we rent a house just over hoosier pass in placer valley (park county) and it's at 11000 feet. for the altitude, as others have mentioned lots of water and avoid alcohol for the first 2 days. i also take a couple of tylenol before i go to bed each night for the first 2 nights. we've used the same approach with our 7&5-year old kids and neither of them have complained about altitude sickness...and we are sea-level dwellers.

Just came back last week. Some of this is redundant but... Colorado Chair on Peak 8 can be packed Chair 6 has great stuff E chair has some sick wooded bumps on the back of peak 9, more than I can handle Imperial Express gets you near the peak, you can hike up the ~350 "steps" and then traverse over to the chutes and hit the upper bowls. I barely made it up! A guy I rode the lift liked taking Whale's Tale off the Imperial which traverses the bowls above 8 & 7,but the problem is it takes you all the way back to the base. I preferred chair 6 and the Imperial Peak 10 has steeper blues and they left it ungroomed so it was pretty nice! Like others have said, get to A-Basin! The Summit Stage is free, leaves Breck at 7:15, gets to AB at 8:15, and leaves A-B at 2:15, 3:15 etc etc. Someone advised that Keystone or Copper has $5/run cat skiing. Is it Copper? Wish I had done that. Food: I thought Mi Casa was good, decent Apres specials. Empire Burger was good. Swiss Haven was mediocre, theres a grocery store in Breck but it's crazy expensive, Breck Brewery for beer, there's an outdoor crepe stand and an indoor one downstairs nearby which was good.

yeah...rasta pasta is good. also, if you're driving up to a-basin, you'll go through keystone. stop in the goat soup & whiskey for awesome soup and otherwise decent sandwiches/bar/snacky kind of food on your way back down. it's on the right side of hwy 6 when you're heading up to a-basin...not too far past the tenderfoot lodge if i remember right.
