Magic 2-29-08

Date(s) Skied: Feb 29, 2008

Resort or Ski Area: Magic Mountain

Conditions: packed powder, powder, COLD

Trip Report:

If you have plans to go somewhere other than Magic this weekend, cancel them and go there instead. What an awesome day. Cold, but awesome. Started the day out on the groomers: Under Your Sleeve, Medium, a run down Trick and then hit Wizard (slightly icy in a couple spots but otherwise really well covered). Tim took off and did his own thing while I stayed on the easier stuff and got accustomed to my new boots (love 'em so far.)We met up around 11 and I followed him for the rest of the day. Hit Witch, Black Line, Red Line (at the cut in after all the cliffs, I'm not THAT crazy) and later Talisman. All packed with powder and all absolutely amazing runs. Can't believe it. My legs are burning. Tied for best day of the season w/Mad River. Was having too much fun for footage or photos today. If you're going this weekend have fun, gonna be out of this world with the new snow they're getting tonight.

Randi's post pretty much sums things up nicely. Magic skied awsome today, and with the snow they are getting tonight (8" to 12" accodring to a lifty) the place will be CRAZY on Sat.

When Randi and I split up for a while I hit Broom Stick to Heart of the Magician. Broom stick was my least favorite run of the day. It was skied off and very freakin narrow. But Heart of the Magician had to be one of my favs next to Witch to Blackline to Redline.

He he he. You will soon learn to love that run for the same reason. Maybe not the skied off part, but definitely the "freakin narrow" part...

Magic is where it's at. Like I said in 2knee's TR, you need to be evaluated if you go somewhere else in SoVT this weekend.

Life's too short for warm up runs.

Storm track seems to be favoring SoVT so you might be able to expand that if you go somewhere else in the state of VT Saturday.

Sweet! Glad you guys had a good trip. Congrats, Marge, for hitting some of the harder stuff... Even if you did take the lady's tee on Red Line...

well I had to take the ladys tee on Red Line as well

The upper most part of RL was really skied off and very icy. You could only get to Red line from where it merges with Witch, right before those upper cliffs. So we took Witch down to Black line witch were both load of run. Both very steep and covered in the deep stuff. We noticed that the lower half of Black line had been groomed so we cut over and did the lower 2/3s of Red Line. We cut in right under the last cliff.

My favorite run of the Day had to be heart of the magicain. From top to bottom I was the only person on that trail and it was great. The first half was kind of shaky as I was trying to get a hang on skiing the deep stuff. But I got better at it, and the lower half was a blast When Marge and I hooked up a couple of runs later we did Witch to BL to RL and from there on out she was hooked on the POW.
