Belleayre: March 1, 2008

Belleayre Mountain, March 1, 2008:

Introduction: Got up at around 9:30, and the place was already packed. 8" of freshies will do that I guess. Had to park at the end of the garage lot, took a shuttle and was on the slopes by 10. Most of my friends were at Hunter for the 42 North comp, but I found a few buddies and headed out.

Weapon of Choice: Endeavor Colour 156

Conditions: Started off on Superchief, took some runs down Wanatuska, Chippewa, Onondaga. Glades were nice, but the snow was pretty heavy so it sucked if you got stuck. Superchief got crowded as hell like usual, so we headed over to Tomahawk. Sure enough, no lines at all. Lift line glade was fun with the cliffs, but got tracked out pretty quick. Dot Nebel was in great shape, and we cut through the Deer Run woods about 3-4 times. Cut over to the "secret" trail off Dot Nebel, only two people had been there before us and there were some amazing woods lines. Since it was out of the usual woods lines though, we got stuck a few times and had to unstrap and hike down a bit. Shit, woods really take it out of you, and we went in for lunch at around 12. I had work later that day and had to go shower, do laundry and get some rest after a tough day, so I went home at 1. Amazing day though, I think Bell has gotten over 1.5 feet the last week alone, and the mountain is in the best shape all year, maybe better than last year sans the Valentine's Day storm.

Weather: Nice

Lifts: Superchief was packed, 7 short line, and Tomahawk almost none. I don't think Superchief broke today, which is a pretty big accomplishment for the Belleayre lifties.

Notes: SOOOO GOOOD.

Rating: 10/10

Conclusion: Powdaaaaaa.
