Camera Magic 3/2/08

Date(s) Skied: 3/2/2008

Resort or Ski Area: Magic Mountain

Conditions: powder, packed powder, powder bumps, blue sky

Trip Report: WOW. After skiing Pico yesterday i was happy with the plan to get sloppy seconds at Magic today. There was nothing sloppy about it, it was great. The place must have been empty yesterday. We pulled in to the parking lot before 9 and had to park in lot B. There was untouched powder in the parking lot!!

Jake and I jumped on the red lift to the top and hit Medium + Vertigo for what was supposed to be a warm up. No time for that, both trails were a mix of soft bumps and chopped up powder.

Came down to a line of people waiting to get on the red chair. A LINE? WTF? Oh well. Waited all of 7 minutes As we approached the top of the red lift i glanced to the right and noticed the black lift had started spinning too! So much for lift lines the rest of the day.

Went back to the skier's right and hit Up Your Sleeve and Vertigo again. More powder on UYS than on Medium.

Went over to the other side after that and hit Upper Wizard to Sorcerer. Next on to Twlight Zone and then Talisman. Talisman was the trail of the day for me. The snow was boot deep and the bumps were soft. You could ski around them, over them, thru them, whatever you wanted!!

Convinced Jake to give Red Line a try. We'd been looking down at it all morning and I wanted to give it a try. It was a bit icy on steep sections we paid close attention from the lift and noticed skier's left was a more powdery line.

Great day overall, probably the best weekend of skiing ever for me. Jake gave Pico the nod for best day but I thought Magic beat it. We had been in Utah just 10 days ago and I'd have to say that the conditions in VT this weekend were better than what we had while out west!

Nice report, glad you guys had a good time there.

All these TRs from over the weekend are making me jealous that I only made it up to Magic on Thursday and not over the weekend...
