| The Canyons 3/2/08 Resort The Canyons Date 3/2/08 Conditions 10-12" of Powder and intermitant sun/snow Report Okay, so I fly out of the East during a major week of dumpage and probably some of the best condtions in the East atleast since March of 2001(once again brought on by me being in Utah for a week Woke up Sunday moring to bluebird skies, light winds and 10 to 12" of fluff spread out all across the 3700+ acres of The Canyons! My wife and I quickly got our daughter dropped off at The Canyon Cats ski program and we were up the hill to the delightfull sounds of avalanche charges going off all over the resort! I can't give a ROTD since from first run to when my legs turned to Jello around 3:30, I was getting untracked lines in over the boot top fluff all day. Trees, steeps, trails, bumps, fluff, fluff, fluff After lunch, my wife and I started exploring some of our favorite areas of this mega resort. And every place we went was just loaded with more untracked and lightly cut up pow! I finished the day off with 5 successive runs off the Saddleback Express, which has open pine/aspen glades off the north side and Eastern tight aspen glades off the South Side. The trees off the North side which are called "The Pines" is probably the run that if you told me that it would be the only run I could ever ski again in my lifetime, I'd be happy with it, especially the way it skied today! Two more days to come at The Canyons Monday and Tuesday, with some snow forcasted for Tuesday before I head to Deer Valley for Wednesday through Friday. I'll try and stop tommorrow and get some pics, but today was all about the pow! |
