A quick (and cheap) potential fix: try to tighten up the fit on the old boots with a flat foam insole placed beneath the liner, i.e., above the zeppa (a/k/a boot board) (
http://www.skinet.com/article.jsp?ID=1000038221 ). You can get a Dr. Scholl's or store brand flat foam insole at CVS or Duane Reed for $5 or so -- something like this:
http://www.drscholls.com/product.aspx?prodid=64. Remove the boot liner and whatever footbed you're using -- place the new flat foam insole on the boot board after trimming to fit if needed -- replace the liner and footbed - and you've got a smaller boot!
YMMV but I found this worked pretty well for a couple of days on boot that were a size too big and it was worth $5 to find out.
