I wonder why it is that the loaf tends to get more April snow than anywhere else in New England

Does Sugarloaf average more April snow than Stowe(Mount Mansfield)??? Mount Washington??? I'm sure latitude has something to do with it...Scott PowderFreak Doppler 2k..where you at?

I'm pretty sure it does. April is second only to March in average snowfall. Considering they receive 200 inches a year, I'd imagine there April totals are impressive. I believe last year they got over ten feet in April

Sugarloaf received 107" of snow last April and we where there for about 60" of it. I can only imagine how much snow Saddleback probably got out of this.

If I remember right, there's a sign on one of the lift towers at Sugarloaf that says someting like:

SNOWIEST MONTHS IN SUGARLOAF

1. March
2. April
3. February

That sign is on the Superquad just below Pick Pole on Competition Hill.
