Mt. Hood summer camps

anyone done one of these? If so, whats the age mix like. I was seriously looking into it but there is only one session in late august dedicated to adults only. Probably a pipe dream on my part but i have some coin I put away just to spend on myself and this looks like a good way to burn it, get some skiing in and actually improve for once. Something i'm not getting anywhere with on my own.

picture needles eye below the snowshed crossover with moguls for probably one and a half tinmes the distance. my advice is to go to Balckcomb. Better snow better pitch, picture lower wildfire, but less terrain. There's still full mogul courses, but not one after another after another after another like there is at Hood.
Besides, Hood is a lonely place at night as Goverment camp isn't all that exciting.
Whistler village on the other hand is lots of fun.

I went Adult camp at SMS (now Momentum) twice. I would recommend it highly

I have skied on the Palmer Snowfield lots of times in the late 80's and through the 90's and the best time of year to go is in late August when most of the summer camps have packed up and left town for the fall.

Palmer is fairly flat, but also large and you get an extended run to the top of the Magic Mile chair. Skier's left near the edge of the snowfield and close to the White River Glacier usually has a nice mogul line that's fun for practicing bumps.

The benefit's of late August are less crowds, the drawbacks are less snow and snow sonetimes becoming dirty with volcanic ash which can make ungroomed snow a bit tacky.

I cannot speak for Blackomb as I have only been there in winter, but the glacier is tiny compared to the Palmer snowfield and the Palmer Snowfield is serviced by a HSQ, not a T-bar and only requires one ride up the Magic Mile Express chair to reach the snow, not multiple chair rides like at Blackomb.

There is alot to do around the Mount Hood area if you are into nature such as a visit to the Three Sisters to the south, Mount Saint Helens National Monument (really cool volcano) to the north, Mount Rainer, an alpine slide at Multipor snow bowl and lots of golfing.

Good info. thank you. Didnt realize hood was so flat. not that it would deter me from going. the nightlife thing, however, that is a pretty good point.

20 years ago, I thought the couple of weeks I did at Mount Hood Summer Ski Camps was pretty cool Something tells me though that Government Camp may have changed slightly in the past 20 years. Although I'd still be that a majority of the major equipment manufacturers still set up shop there in the summer.

I'm really hoping that my kids will enjoy skiing/ski racing in the future so that I'll have an excuse to go back to Mount Hood for a little chaperoning and some skiing

Go to ARGENTINA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is awesome! And it is still really cheap down there. Steak dinners with a bottle of wine for $10, $25 lift tickets and hotel rooms for $15 per person per night! Check out Bariloche.

Taking nothin away from Babic's camp, I never been to his and after talking with him he seems to be a really nice guy.

An alternative is Evan Dybvig up at Whaleback, before coaching his own team at Whaleback he was an assistant coach over at Stratton. IMO, it was worth the time and money. Powbmps went there on separate occasion, my impression was Powbmps thought it was worth the money also.
