| Haven't checked in lately, but I just got to see the Sundown mogul tribute vid. Great work once again! You really captured the essence of a great bump season at Sundown. Regarding the topic of pole length - it seems most are using shorter poles in the bumps. But what about when you are not in the bumps? Do you go back to longer poles or just use the shorter ones all mountain? |

If I want a pole touch I just increase my hip angles. And not using a touch just helps my balance which helps every aspect of my skiing. People rely on poles for balance way too much.

Move your hips forward and up and increase the hip angle by flexing your external obliques. That'll bring your hand closer to the snow without reaching forward.
