NFL video fiasco

I know we have some NFL fans here, I've been following the Pat’ “spygate” incident and how this has turned into; a media circus, spinning for talking heads and now a political lever. What I have learned;

1. Goodell is a dufus, he could have put this issue to bed by doing a better job of explaining that it was a rule violation. Meaning it’s not a crime punishable by federal, state and local statues but an infringement on NFL policy. It is OK to video tape signals being called, the Pats were in violation of the rule due to using a third camera and in a non-sanctioned area.

2. The talking heads on all media outlets are spinning this to gain viewers or ratings and will spin to this to the maximum. The fact that Goodell said (during the recent news conference) that it permissible to scout (steal) signals under current league policy, he further explains team go to great lengths to switch the signaling during the game and from game to game. This however does not change the spin from these talking heads. It’s almost to a point that it becoming a witch hunt. This could be good in the sense that the Pats will rally on this and truly have the perfect season this year (hope the new LBs are studs!)

3. Senator Spector is making an @ss of himself, his motivation is exposed due to the relationship with Comcast. And the fact that he wants to hold an independent investigation would be a waste of taxpayer money. The best that will come out of this is the hidden secret that all teams are pushing the rules to the max and the Pats were just the scapegoat for an over zealous new commissioner. Spector’s questioning with Matt Walsh has indicating that a Jets employee was doing same thing during the Herman or Parcells era. In addition, you have a respected old time coach like Jimmy Johnson admitted that he was taught how to do this, so it’s a well known practice.

Damn…. sorry state of affairs, I’ll admit it is like watching a car accident.

Thoughts?

Considering that I sent my check in for my Pats season tickets a couple of weeks ago, I currently am, and have been fine with the media circus and it's outcome.

And anyone who doesn't think that teams both legally and illegally (NFL rules legal/illegal) DON'T video and/or have a designated team employee watching the opposing coaching staff call both offensive and defensive schemes just doesn't have a clue about the modern day NFL.

Would love to see the whole ordeal ended and have the media focus on training camps.

Pats should definitely be hungry again and will still be feared around the league.

The Senate should launch a full investigation. Because, you know, there's nothing else of any importance going on right now.

Bread and circus, folks.

Congress needs to wake up and smell the coffee. I dont want them spending time on trivial things like this. I want them taking care of our budget problems. If they have the extra time to explore cases like this we dont need them.

Much ado about nothing...

because even though they apparently cheated the Pats still lost the game that mattered most.

Sorry Pats fans, this Giants fan just felt the need to stir the pot.

Fire away!

I'm over the super bowl, the better team won. Recall I was on Eli's band wagon when he stopped making boneheaded plays and that D line was dominating during the playoffs (when it counted).

What really bothers me is the witch hunt that is going on; the yellow journalism and the talking heads putting on the spin to make ratings. The good thing about this is its tells me which who has integrity and who doesn't.

I'm losing my touch.

Figgered this thread would be pages long by now.

Must be the end of ski season funk.

Just picked the wrong subject. Most Pats fans know the better team won. Wouldn't have convinced us before the game but actions speak louder than words.

Don't worry JimG, you're still the master pot stirrer.
