Spring to glove or not to glove

i always throw on my full finger mtb gloves along with the giro fuse sans ear covers for protection - feel nekkid without em

my current gloves have zip out liner that i've used a few times in the spring. I don't really like them much as they are still too thick for a warm day. keeping an eye on SAC for a lighter pair for next year.

Bingo. Spring snow is sharp as crushed glass sometimes. I'll wear liners, work gloves or my ratty leather Hotfingers with holes and wornout linings I've had for 15 years.

wow people must fall a lot i can't where glove when its above 50. my hands sweat and start to stink. i hate stank gloves. i fell twice last year once was mid winter and the other was at camelwack in the spring and i carved to far out to the edge of the trail did a hand drag. no cuts no nothing, just a some redness. now if i am touring i always bring gloves but at southernly resorts i have to let them hang in the air

I only fell 4 times last season, 3 of em were headplants in 34" of pow at Jhole. It only takes one good fall to F up the hand, so I don't take the chance. Not to mention cutting my hands on ski edges or the remote chance of kissing a tree, fence or getting whacked by an outta control gaper.

spring is all about old school no grab airs so edges aren't a problem. the chance of me hitting a tree in spring south of vt are nill, unless we have a really big year and i can do some touring down here. out of control gapers that why i ride with my fists clenched(kidding).
