Not redundant. While kosher hot dogs clearly can't have pork, they have to have kosher beef/chicken/turkey (without getting into too much details, proper slaughtering process). While your typical kosher hotdog is all beef, not all all beef hotdogs are kosher.

I tend to not think about what goes into a hotdog...
I just like the taste of Hebrew Nats... Also enjoy Nathans...

I miss the local Hotdog stands in NJ...

For you Joisey Peeps...is Hot Dog Johnnys still there on 46?
Yep...Hot Dog Johnny's is still thriving on Rt. 46. Personnally, I think their hot dogs are mediocre at best. I prefer kraut and cooked onions (Sabrett style, in the red sauce) and brown mustard on hot dogs. Johnny only offers yellow mustard and raw onions, in addition to relish and (gasp) ketchup. That's it.

I don't think there has been a single change to Hot Dog Johnny's (or if you go by their old t-shirts, Johnny Hot Dog) other than the yearly fresh coat of paint in 40+ years. They still offer soda or cold buttermilk as drink choices.

It is certianly a bit of Americana roadside history.

For all the Hartford area folks, or even those that from time to time do the I-91 drive just North of Hartford. Paul's Ranchhouse which is located in the North End of Hartord, just South of Exit 34 off I-91 makes a really tasty chili dog. Not exactly in the best of neighborhoods , but boy do they make a good dog, and you'll even get the subsequent enjoyment of tasting the rest of the day!
