Rant on daily Steep and Cheap email. Thought it funny:

They blew it in the 2000 election, and now they've even managed to mess up a primary. A primary! Secession? Let 'em go. Thousands died in the Civil War (half of them from diarrhea) and for what? So Florida could waste my time squabbling over their inclusion in a primary when the Democratic Party made it very clear that their delegates wouldn't get seated if they moved their vote up. Florida's only redeeming value is that it's probably the most lawless state in the Union. People there have no regard for traffic laws or posted speed limits, which usually means they drive well beneath the limits since most of the state is over 75. The age also explains why no one looks over their shoulder before backing out of parking spots. The backing-out-of-parking-spots is no great prize, but it's kind of nice to be able to go there and rent a motorcycle with a stolen credit card and no special licensing.

One of the few places I'd probably give up living near the mountains for.

I'd probably take up Scuba diving.
