Our next door neighbor, + my parent's best frend's (growing up in Lexington MA) owned a house on Squam Lake that was rented by the producers/film crew. Both Henry and Jane Fonda lived in his house for 3 months during the filming over the summer of 1981. The Fonda's took them (the owners and my parents) out to dinner at what is now The Common Man in Holderness....

As a kid I still remember being sent down to the dock every day for the mail boat delivery.

Shawnees Peak in Bridgton ME over looks Long Lake, which runs the 12 miles N/S from Naples to Harrison. You can also see Highland Lake from parts of Shawnee
Shawnee Peak (AKA Pleasant Mt) overlooks moosepond. You can see only a very few patches of Long Lake from there. It must be Moose Pond that your camp is on?

I have lived here all my life, and ski Shawnee 50+ times a season and there is only one. It sits on the shore of Moose Pond.

I know, but I was trying to figure out 2Plankers confusion. I was thinking maybe there's another hill called Shawnee that's not the ski area on Long.

Depending on where you are - you can see several of the lakes. Moose pond is indeed the closest, but views of of Long Lake, Highland Lake are possible depending on which side you're on and in what direction you're facing...

This thread was originally addressing what lakes might have been used for the filming of On Golden Pond. Considering the size of Moose Pond - That was clearly not an option.

We too have skied (and worked for) Pleasant/Shawnee since the early 70's, and had this property in our family for 150 years. Our winter home is now up in Bethel @ Sunday River, but we're down here from May through October.......

Yea, you're right, you didn't make any claims Shawnee was on Long Lake.
