Saddleback, Maine- 2/22/05

Date(s) Skied: 2/22/05

Resort or Ski Area: Saddleback, Maine

Conditions: Powder, Packed powder, crud, some scrape and ice here and there

Trip Report: This is the first time I had ever been to Saddleback and I cant wait to get back. They had just got around 4- 6" of new light snow to make for a real nice surface. We took the Rangeley double and headed for the summit T-bar and skied a few trails from the top. The top trails seemed to be getting skied off alot earlier then others because of the steepness. Even though there wasnt alot of skier traffic.

So we decided to head to the Rangely double and we skied most of the day there. Because it had better snow and still wasnt crowded. Royal Coachmen and Blue Devil had the best snow of of this lift and Tightline had the best snow from the summit. They had a great base that should last them well into April and even to May.

The lodge is big and really nice even though they are still working on it. There is also a small terrain park and a medium sized halfpipe. Its definetly worht the trip to Saddleback. I took some pictures and will post them later.

Yeah - looks like your host doesn't like embedded images. You can pull up each pic individually though:

Nice pics! I took out a video entitled, "A Guide to Ski New England" from 1985 with Bob Beattie this past week. Funny to look at the hairdos, equipment, and lifts. What was interesting was that Saddleback was one of the featured resorts!! "This is an up and coming place," Bob said. He also went to Sugarloaf in ME but NOT Sunday River (before their hayday). Kind of ironic now how few people know of Saddleback.
