7/4/08...let the 08/09 ski season begin!

Am I weird?

I know most everyone here gets the ski jones...I know I do. Even when it isn't too bad like this past season I get it.

And it's always in the background until July 4.

Stay with me here...about 10 years ago I put some ski gear away a bit wet and opened it up the next season to a whiff and fuzzy coat of mildew. Blech! So I always leave my gear out to dry in my cool dry basement until fully dry. Until July 4th.

Sure enough, today I woke up free of the jones. I went downstairs and put my gear away, put my footbeds and liners back in my boots, packed things up for my first ski trip of 08/09, and woo hoooooo it's ski season 08/09.

And tonight I get fireworks.

Maybe it's a mental illness.

Most certainly it's a mental illness! And I, like so many others on this board, share that illness. Ain't technology wonderful!

I thought the countdown to ski season started after the summer solstice when the days start getting shorter!

Still in the middle of summer projects at Sunapee, so I never really get a chance to not think about the winter. Only about 123 days approximately until tentatively an east coast ski area opens (toss up between SR and Mount Snow).

Curved Ski Poles n. 1. Expert skier's poles bent at the factory to fit around the body and thus improve control and reduce air resistence. 2. Beginner's poles bent during use to fit around trees, trail signs, snowmaking equipment, lift towers, and other skiers.

Jim, you're killing me! It's way to early for me to be thinking about the 08/09 season!

Normally, I'd be right there with Jim. Not this season. Not at all. Any guesses why, Brian?
