Great guy and did a lot to help people out. I saw him quite a bit at the races at Lime Rock and would always take the time to talk to the fans.

A class actor BUT an EVEN CLASSIER human being . Imagine an ACTOR who actually stayed MARRIED to teh SAME woman for over 5 decades and DID a WORLD of GOOD for His fellow man --

Where are those types today in Bollywood ????

He will be missed in many arenas. Class is a very good way to describe him, as well as passionate.

GSS, how can you say you're too young for his movies. He was in movies up until the past few years, and his older movies are well worth renting, or buying. Get thee to a video store. you won't be disappointed.

Here is a link to a list of his accomplishments as an actor

I saw him in an interview on Wind Tunnel, when the IRL and Cart merged(for lack of a better term) He was a passionate race team owner as much as anything. Newman Haas will definitely miss him.

I'll have to rent some of those..for me Ferris Buellers day off is a classic movie..what newer movies is he in? I just checked IMDB and I saw Message in a Bottle with an ex..but most of the movies he was in were 1980s and before..

The reason he stayed married is he kept his ass out of Hollywood and led a normal life, notwithstanding his fortune and fame and a few pricey hobbies. Truly a wonderful guy and role model. GSS, you can't tell the board you NEVER watched "The Sting", "Cool hand Luke" or "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". You might make it a point to rent a few of the classics over the winter in that deluxe apartment in the sky if you enjoy movies.
