Killington was the only resort in the east that rivaled the western ones. It always took a stand to sometimes even open before the western resorts. k im gonna stop before i get into a senseless rant.

- Another upper mountain lift returing to the K-1 top.
How about a simple mid-station (loading only) on the K1! It's entirely possible and would provide direct access (upload/download) to all the high elevation lift pods including the SRT.

How many days of continuos snowmaking does it take Killington to open up a trail(s) for lift serviced skiing and riding? Thank you.
It really depends upon the weather. With optimal conditions and round the clock snowmaking, 8-10 days.
Currently the ground is really warm, so we need a few hard freezes so we don't see ground-up melting once snowmaking begins.

No, not really.

Optimal conditions for 8-10 days straight, round the clock, is vitually impossible to have until the heart of mid-winter. Spread out, it probably takes Killington until early December to see 200 hours below 20 degrees. And unless Killington's snowmaking capacity has decreased from 80 acre feet per day, that's enough snowmaking to open half the mountain's snowmaking trails....really....which is pretty much what they have by mid-December.

So either your wrong, you're sandbagging us, or the capacity is actually down.

My estimates are entirely more realistic.

While I may think the K-1 opening is incredibly absurd and difficult, it is not THAT difficult. If it truely took 8-10 days of round the clock optimal temps, they would literally not open until December.
